Wait Wait Squat Increase Every Workout?

Am I doing SS wrong?
I though weight increase in the squat is every 2 workouts.
If you increase your squat every workout then you will end up with the squat more than your deadlift, which is not cool.
You increase your deadlift every workout, yes, so is the presses and the cleans.
Every time you increase your deadlift there is a period of time which you recover from, 4 days! not 2.
I always thought that every exercise is loaded by more weight every workout except squat.
Do I really need to increase every 2 days the squat load?

Re: Wait Wait Squat Increase Every Workout?

1. DL is naturally higher than squat.

2. You can increase DL generally more than squat given all things the same.

3. DL is such a high CNS intensive exercise that you NEED to rest from it for that many days otherwise you will burn out.

4. Squat is increased EVERY workout.

Seriously, you need to buy a copy of Starting Strength.

Why do you think it would cost $170? 2nd edition is for sale on amazon.com for $30. Shipping to you can't cost that much.

Re: Wait Wait Squat Increase Every Workout?

Yea but 30 dollars + taxes + shipping + more taxes()

We have taxes for everything because of the situation in Gaza.
I'm talking about 46.7% of the actual price ATLEAST just to get the book into Israel.
I'll move to Canada soon, no worrys.

or are they?

David;
Links have been provided for the complete program which some one has posted on line. Go find them.
Until you get the book, just do it, don't sweat the details or post questions on Strength Mill and Mark may reply.
This is Crossfit, not SS.

BTW, I'm doing the SS program.

Re: Wait Wait Squat Increase Every Workout?

oh, you need to understand that 1 dollar = 3.4 shekels.
Our salary is pretty much the same as your.
Which means the book in US is cheaper than in Israel by 3.4.
30$ book + 46.7% taxes + 6$ shipment = 50$.
50$ X 3.4 = 170 shekels.

I would have paid $50 for that book. It is worth its weight in gold.

Re: Wait Wait Squat Increase Every Workout?

To be very clear, David,

Only a very small part of the value of the "Starting Strength" book is "The Program." In my 1st edition volume, it's described only briefly, as a couple of pages in one chapter.

The greatest value - incalculable, in my opinion - is in how well the lifts are described. What the coaching cues are, to ensure proper form. What the common errors are, and various ways of how to correct them. Diagrams and pictures showing correct form, common faults, and coaching directions.

Rip spends about 50 pages describing simply the squat. It's a tour de force, and among the best writing I've found in non-fiction, whatever the genre.

So get the book, as soon as you get to Canada. And in the meantime, follow up over at the links people have already given you, where Rip's coaching directions are free for the reading.

Re: Wait Wait Squat Increase Every Workout?

David, give me a break.

I just received my copy of Starting Strength from Amazon this week (to Israel). It cost me the 30$ + 6$ shipment + 5$ taxes. It won't be much less in canada. If you can't afford it, that's cool. I don't want everyone here on the board to get the wrong idea about our little country. Some of us make a nice living here and don't have to think twice about buying a book.

That's just plain wrong.
