Gaining mass and zone diet/w crossfit. Possible?

Does the zone diet lend itself to gaining mass when coupled with cross fit?

According to the faq it's very possible to gain mass using crossfit, does using the zone diet help this?

My metabolism is such that I find that, even with no training or exercise, I can eat a tonne and not gain a pound. ie: Hard Gainer.

I've been doing scaled down crossfit for a few weeks now and i'm definitely a lot stronger, although not much heavier..

(23 years old, 6'2, 160 pounds)

It's possible but very difficult. The simple way to gaining mass would be eating more calories to support weight gain, and working out less and resting more.

Increase your fat blocks. Try multiplying whatever they are now x3. Give it 2-3 weeks and see whats happening. Bump it up x5 if needed. Coconut milk and almond butter are great in shakes. Add extra olive oil on vegetables. Also bump up your protein one or two blocks. You have to tailor it to your body. 40/30/30 is just a general guideline. I wouldn't increase carb blocks ever though.

Most hard gainers will find the results they want if they actually took strict account of thier food. This way you can truely say you aren't gaining on X amount of food and you can then eat more.

First find an amount on the zone that maintains your weight, then work up to 3x or 5x fat depending on how well you handle fat digestion. Some people seem to have trouble with 5x fat. After that increase our total blocks by 1 or 2 untill you start gaining. Its really just a matter of accountability and following some sort of strength training program.

Re: Gaining mass and zone diet/w crossfit. Possible?

I am a hard gainer also, and what I have found to work is to eat three huge (5 plus blocks) meals a day. This fits well into the Zone, because the Zone has three meals and two snacks in a normal day.

Make your meals much larger than your snacks, and you should also have enough time to get hungry before your next meal. This has worked for me, after I tried for months to gain weight by grazing.

Hope this helps!

Frankly, yes, it's hard.
