It works pretty well at out little Aldi's here. However, it is a pretty small store.
We also have 3 other grocery stores that dont do it and they carry much more stuff.--so it could be that not very many people go to Aldi's here.

Nothing beats the time I went into the MENS public restroom at a mall and saw an "extremely" used feminine hygiene product in the middle of the floor....again...how? Why?
My bulldog puppy managed this feat. I was shocked...and impressed. I still don't know how a 40 lb bulldog can create so much crap.

Re: Biggest Pet Peeve

My biggest pet peeve is people that abbreviate things when they speak...

examples

"hey, wanna grab a coffee this aft?"...no I actually want to punch you in the face....aft is the back of a ship -face

" I just got back from the best vacay ever" oh really, where'd you go? dip- island?...is it really that hard to spit out the last syllable? A**clown

which leads me to an abbreviation that is sure to get me into hot water on this forum. I love Crossfit to death, but hearing people say "WOD" is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I can relate to this. I introduce myself as Michael, because it is my name, and everyone wants to shorten it to Mike. Then when I correct someone, I'm the a$$hole?! Then I just shorten their names...

Text speak drives me nuts too. I type everything out when I text. I dated a girl who use to use zeros instead of o's since I guess it was faster (flip phone days...) so texts fr0m her l00ked 0bn0xi0us as a m0f0...

People actually say "aft?"

In New Zealand, the term "arvo" is used for afternoon.

Peter Griffin: Those are my friends?

Death: Yeah that's XX, XX and Johnathan.

Peter Griffin: Why don't we call him John?

Death: He insists on being called Johnathan.

Peter Griffin: Oh....one of those?

I can understand that one. There are certain words that work well shortened since they've been used that way for a long time. A prime example would be 'sec' for 'second'. 'Hey, you got a sec?'

Living in Japan, we shorten the word 'thousand' to 'thou' when referring to money. Some people will shorten 'hundred' to 'hun' as well. And then, on top of that, we'll use the Japanese word for '10,000', 'mon'. It's just short hand to communicate money quickly. For those of us who have lived here our whole lives, it's part of the ex-pat vocabulary, and very helpful.

"How much did you pay for the gear from Rogue?"

"3 mon, 8 thou, 5 hun' (38,500 yen, roughly US$ 400)

It might drive people new to Japan nuts, but when it's been used for long enough, it's just the way things are
