I was in a very similar situation. A lot depends on the management. I got away with it for several years, then a new **** **** took over and I was out. I did get complains from the office of shaking and skiping on cd players on the 3rd floor, over the years. I tried to improve things, but nothing really helped. Like many, I could only make the platform so thick, due to ceiling height. I was on the first, on cement, with several rubber mats on top. I though I was careful and never used that much weight.

The other way to look at it, is if your a student, how long are you going to be there? Depending on the market, if there is an excess of housing, they won't likely evict mid lease. I was allowed to stay around 5 months after they notifed my they would not renew.

I'm a LOT happier where I am now, so things happen for a reason....

I have a buddy who is an acoustic engineer. I will pose the problem to him and see what happens.

There has to be a way.
