Protein Shake Zone Diet

Should I still be having a post work out protein shake if i am following the zone diet? I usually eat dinner 4-4-4 blocks before my workout. Am not sure if i should be having a protein shake after?

Re: Protein Shake Zone Diet

Dr. Sears completely neglects post-workout nutrition in all his books. There's plenty of threads dealing with post-WOD options on here, but they all pretty much boil down to "yes, you want to get something in your body right after a workout, and liquids tend to digest and get absorbed faster than solid food."

Whether you go high carb vs. low carb is dependent on your body composition, type of workout, amount of time til your next workout, and your goals. Don't worry too much about counting blocks in your shake--OPT and several others say they shouldn't even count towards your daily block allotment.

Re: Protein Shake Zone Diet

Depending on what time of day I train I do or do not have a protein shake. For example I normally have lunch around 11.00 and train at 13.00. Or if I train at 18.00 - 18.30 I have dinner at 20.00 therefore I don't have a protein shake.
