There are many people in the area. I highly recommend contacting Zach Even Esch at the Underground Strength Gym in Edison NJ.

Is there a gym nearby yet? Have you found any partners or gyms? I'll be starting at RWJMS in August and could really use a partner and more importantly a gym.

Re: New Jersey/Rutgers/etc

I'm a Rutgers student and a beginning CrossFitter. Once I get back in the fall, I was thinking of checking out the Rutgers Power Gym, which is supposedly an oly lifting facility. There's also a park nearby with running trails, pullup bars, and other fun equipment. Hopefully between those, one could do some semblance of CrossFit.

If any of you guys are looking for a workout partner, I would definitely be interested.

Re: New Jersey/Rutgers/etc

I'm going to investigate the Rutgers Power Gym then...I've been crossfitting for some time but recently have began honing in on my oly lifts. Having bumper weights would be amazing, especially so close to home. I'm living in North Bruns, but the closest gym I can find is Crossfit Mercer which is 30 minutes away south on Rt. 1 which will be an awful drive at peak traffic hours.

I'm definitely interested in finding training partners around the area.

Edit: Looks like the power gym is a legitimate oly lifting center. I'll probably try to train there 3-4 times a week then find another way to keep up the metcon. Let me know if you're interested.

CrossFit Mercer is roughly 30-40 minutes from Rutgers straight down Route 1. If you can miss rush hour you can get there relatively easy. I commuted from Mercerville to Cook for 2 years. Come check it out. Call me 609.273.6520 Dolph

Re: New Jersey/Rutgers/etc

Hey Casey,

Working out together sounds great, but I must warn you that I'm pretty new to CF. I worked out at an affiliate for about a month, but I was having trouble with some of the core movements due to lack of flexibility and some nagging injuries. I'm now getting physical therapy to help clear that up, and I hope to start fresh in the fall.

But yeah, if you're willing to work out with an out-of-shape beginner, I'm definitely game.
