False Grip on Rings

Is there anything I can put on my elite rings to make it just a little less uncomfortable when I use a false grip?

Re: False Grip on Rings

Zac,

I've done two things:

1. Hockey tape on the rings for a better grip. Add some chalk and nothing is going to slip.

2. I've gotten some good skin tears on the inside of my wrists during higher rep MU's such as the 30 for time. I don't even realize it until afterwards and by then it's too late. I picked up a pair of sweat bands to wear on my wrists and they do a great job of protecting them. My kids think I'm a dork but it's my gym and I don't care. David.

The hockey, or baseball grip tape works well. You can also use tennis racket handle tape. Tyler used to ship that with his metal rings. It is about $3 for a package.

I think the hockey tape and baseball bat grip tape are both nicer than the tennis racket grip tape, and are about equivalent to eachother.

Re: False Grip on Rings

I'm just getting used to false grip pull ups, and I have had a problem sliding out of the grip. I recently started using medical adhesive tape on the rings, and like to wrap my wrists in adhesive tape. I put plenty of tape on my wrists, which helps a lot with soreness. The tape is somewhat sticky and this helps to maintain the grip.
