Just got a couple of big tires and am looking forward to my first session of sledgehammering.
Got some wierd looks from the neighbors when I unloaded the tires from my truck.

Be sure to explore all the benifits you can get for praying at the altar of the Big Tire.

Road Rage

Put a slam ball on either side of your tire with one far enough away that the tire won't hit it when you flip it over. Go down to your ball and do a burpee, stand with the ball to a full squat clean, stand and thruster the ball overhead, slam the ball, jump on the tire, jump off the tire, flip the tire, jump in the tire and out the other side to the other ball. That was one. Do 10 in under 2 minutes and feel the joy overcome you.

If you have a hill nearby or even a reasonably steep driveway try rolling the tire uphill. Our street is uphill from my gym to the west for about 75 yards and we go about half way up rolling the 300 pound tire. That's a tough one.

Tires are great for box jumps as misses are not so costly on the integrity of your shins. They make a good GHD too but use a towel for where you hook your feet on the underside of the tire rim as it is dirty there and will blaken your shoes. Tire flip races, tire roll races, team carries, team flips, rotational flip and jump throughs...

Oh, and you can hit them with a sledgehammer too.

I got a harness on eBay for $25, the brand is from the speedcity site so I got it for 1/2 price. Picked up a large used truck tire today on the way home for free. It weighs 140 lbs. Drilled a hole in it and added an eye bolt then hooked up the harness. Drug it 100 feet, partway down my driveway and back. Talk about tough! I approached this like I inevitably do with the workouts, "how tough can this be?" and realized quickly that sprinting is out of the question. Maintaining forward momentum became the priority. This is going to be challenging.

I just got my own tire today too :-) I haven't had the time to play with it yet but am looking forward to tomorrows workout. I have my sledgehammer and rope all ready to roll. :-)
