Lifting Shoes

I recently purchased a pair of Reebok weightlifting shoes and continuously rotate forward on my toes during my back squats. I never had the problem with my Nano's?

I assume this is a problem with my technique; just not sure how to fix it? Other than the obvious answer...stay off my toes.

Weightlifting shoes have an elevated heel, which helps most people with ROM when it comes to squatting. A handful of people have reported that they actually hurt their form more than help it, but you might just need the right ques.
475 Deadlift, 415 Back Squat, 330 Front Squat

Michael, one thing that helped me when getting used to my lifters is making sure i slide my foot all the way back into the heel before REALLY tightening down my laces and strap. My Reebok Olys are probably like a 1/2 size too big really, but they were snug before i broke them in so now theyre not quite as tight fitting.

Ankle mobility? Have you started the habit of squatting in a way that rests on the end range of your dorsiflextion? ( dorsi = toe up mobility in ankle)

The heel on a lifter is slightly higher than what you are used to. If you use the same lever angles that you have trained with AND have been relying on your dorsiflextion to tell you when to stop your ankle angle, it will tip you forward.

Now picture putting a wedge under that habit. You will roll forward.

You now need to work on 'chest up, elbows up' a bit more than you are used to. Pay attention to the pressure point in your feet, if it moves all over the place. This means more quality/slower lifting is needed.

Btw, there is nothing saying you have to squat in your WL shoes. You will feel a difference though.

Consider just lifting, more correctly flexing, your toes inside your shoes when you squat until you get used to your shoes.

Push your heels through the floor a little harder. It's almost like when you bench, you have to try and push yourself through the bench? Same concept.
