That's what I thought.

I wonder if the the fact that the NPGL is paying all the athletes, forced the Games to start paying further down the placing.
Let's not forget that NPGL wants a % of everyone's endorsement deals.

It's worse than that, actually. Much worse.

Yeah, just throwing one of the stupidest things from a "professional" sports league that I've ever heard out there.

Care to expand? I think it's crap that they take a % of an athlete's endorsement deals - when it is very likely the athlete got their deal due to their performance in Crossfit - not the NPGL.

I just don't see the NPGL as being financially viable. I'd give it a 1 in 10 chance of making it into a third season and the same odds of it ever making money.

Every sports league in the country takes a percentage of an athlete's endorsement deal. Without the league the athlete plays in, they wouldn't get the endorsement.

NBC has already bought the rights to broadcast. I think they're doing just fine financially.

However, these athletes can be sponsored without this league because most of them are sponsored due to Crossfit

If you take a look at the rosters for each team, of the 20 or so athletes, maybe 5 of them have multiple sponsors. Those sponsors only provide them with clothing and supplements. None of them pay cash to an athlete to do CrossFit. When the NPGL becomes as large as MLS or NHL, these athletes will be paid cash from sponsors to be in the NPGL. They also get paid to compete as opposed to paying to compete, like CrossFit.
