Best sub for box jumps

I work out in my basement at 0500 and cam not do box jumps that early (they wake up my family). What is the best sub for box jumps? Thanks.

Re: Best sub for box jumps

I use a padded flat bench. Not as tall as a 20 inch box, but still a workout.

If you absolutely have nothing to jump up to, then do Tuck jumps I guess. Those can be darn tiring after a few reps!

Re: Best sub for box jumps

It sounds like "jumping" in itself would wake the family so do box step ups!

if box jumps are too loud, its going to be hard to do most exercises in the typical WOD in your basement without making too much noise. sounds like you need to find a new place or time to workout.

Re: Best sub for box jumps

You're doing them wrong if they're too loud. Like plyometrics they should be soft. Being loud means you're losing a lot of extra energy into the ground, and it's taking a toll on your joints (slowly but surely). This is an issue in any impact sport.

Yep - land quiet like a cat - you'll save your knees a lot of heartache.

Steven is right, although while you're working on that...

Other obvious solutions: 1) Take your plyo box outside! 2) tuck jumps work.
