Bomb Suit Mile

I saw an article the other day about a Navy EOD tech that set the world record for running a mile with a bomb suit on while in Iraq back in Feb. He ran it in ~10:13. So me and another guy here in the shop at Kirkuk have decided to give it a try. I read that the Navy guy took 2 months to train for the event, me and my buddy here have been following just the main page WOD's for the past couple of months so I figured that would be good test of crossfits preperation for anything. Wish me luck.

Good luck!

For those of us not in your line of work -- how much do the suits weigh?

Re: Bomb Suit Mile

We are planning on doing the run on Sat 12 Sep. Unless my route clearance mission gets back really late then we will push the run to Sunday.

Re: Bomb Suit Mile

I found out today right before we ran that a Marine set a new world record of 9:58. He apparently trained for 5 months for the run. I finished the mile in 11:45. After running I think the worse part was the heat generated. My partner finished in 12:36. I have to give alot of props to the Marine who set the record, that was a hard run.

Re: Bomb Suit Mile

That's quite an effort. Congrats on just completing it and getting a pretty decent time.

Re: Bomb Suit Mile

Congrats. Any video of the run? I've never seen a dude run in a bomb suit before and I'm trying not to imagine something along the lines of a speedy-looking Michelin Man or Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.
