Sugar in Gatorade

I am strict with my diet concerning sugar. Only time I get any to amount ot anything is with my post workout drink. 4 tablesoons of gatorade powder and two scoops of protein. That is around 58 grams of carbs and 46 of protein. Of course all the carbs are sugar. Is this going to hamper fat loss?

Re: Sugar in Gatorade

Possible to likely that it will. Try it for a month or two and see what happens and then try method B.

Method B:

Eat equivalent amounts of real food. Well possibly with less sugar, especially the refined kind.

YES. In fact, I would not be surprised if you actually start adding fat over time.

Post work-out drink some water, rest and about 1-2 hours later have a nice meal with meat and veggies.

Re: Sugar in Gatorade

Is it even sugar or is it the evil High fructose corn syrup....
Yes I'd say sugar will help you keep or put on useless weight.
Hammer nutrition makes a good product called HEED,pretty clean, tastes good feels great and worlds better than Gatorade IMO
No affiliation with company.

Re: Sugar in Gatorade

Gatorade is the devil. That stuff used to kill my weight loss efforts. I went to a wrestling camp years ago that was sponsored by gatorade, and the gatorade rep even suggested for best performance to dilute it with water. I hate drinking calories when trying to lose weight, especially empty calories. I'm not exactly a diet expert, but in my experience Gatorade really doesn't have much room in my diet as an athlete.

Re: Sugar in Gatorade

I am using it as a quick recovery drink post workout only. Does that make any difference as far as nutrition timing?

If you need a good, cheap, post workout drink...have chocolate milk; No, really. All links WFS

I don't do this, I just have breakfast. But if you must...

Rip recommended that over on the strength mill forums, mind you he prefaced it by saying he was not the expert on this and also the original question was about post SS workout, I still believe it could be a great suggestion(And a tasty one too).
