The Pittsburgh Open Weightlifting Championships

I know this is a bit late, but there is a weightlifting meet tomorrow at the Martial Arts & Sports Complex, 331 Station Street, Bridgeville, Pa. 15017.

The meet is hosted by my team, the Pittsburgh Barbell Team. I will be lifting and Jay Cohen will be in attendance (I still think he should lift).

WFS, unless you work some where they don't like you lifting heavy stuff overhead.

Side note, I hit 85 and 110 in the snatch and C&J last time. I'm going for 90 and 115 this time.

Good luck Jamie! Which class are you in? I'm guessing 94 - 105?

I'm 103.1 as of last night. Thank you both for the encouragement.

Nice. Do you train above 105 to build strength and then diet down before a comp? I just finished Greg Everett's book and the section on competitions was really interesting. I'm thinking about getting into it and I'm on the edge of 105 all the time.

Re: The Pittsburgh Open Weightlifting Championships

THats the plan, but I lost 20 lbs when I had my surgery in november.

I'm trying to get to 235 (which will increase my bfc a bit, I'm at about 15 %) and then cut down and then go back up until I get to 235 and about 10 % bfc. Any lower and I think my performance would suffer.

We have guys that cut about 5-8 lbs for meets, but I'm not one of them yet.

Re: The Pittsburgh Open Weightlifting Championships

I got crushed, but I set 3 prs. I snatched (okay power snatched) 82 and 86and missed 90 (old pr was 85) and C&J 105, 110 and 113 (110 was the old pr) bringing my total to 199 (I should have gone to 114 on the C&J). I'll post the link the results when my coach finished them.

On a sad note, one of our lifters, 20 year old 77 kg (he should so be an 85) dislocated his shoulder on a 100 kilo snatch attempt. He should be fine though.
