Broken Elite Ring

In the middle of today's 50 MUs for time WOD, I heard a snap from above, though I couldn't really feel anything change in my rings. Upon closer inspection post-WOD, I noticed that part of the lever on the metal buckle (the part that says "press") had snapped off. I found it lying about 20 feet away. The buckle still seems to work, but now I am a bit concerned about the integrity of the metal; after all, if a different part of the buckle had snapped, I could have taken quite a fall.

Has anyone else experienced this with their Elite Rings?

Re: Broken Elite Ring

Stehpen,
I actually wrote a response to someone else about this issue yesterday. This is not a fault of the buckle. It happened because the strap was threaded in backwards, which causes the strap to wrap around the lever. Under correct usage, there is no load on the lever.
Take a look at the diagram on the side of the buckle. It has a diagram that shows how the strap should feed in. It goes in through the window in the back of the buckle and out the front.
Shoot me an e-mail with your address and I will send out a replacement strap.
Thanks,
Tyler

The same thing happened to mine when I threaded them wrong.
