Thumbs up One Year

It's now been one full year since I was introduced to CrossFit. A few comparisons between then and now to highlight what it's done for me:

Weight: June '07 - 245 lb. / Today - 205.8 lb.
Body Fat: June '07 - ~30% / Today - 18.4%
Muscle Mass: June '07 - ~32% / Today - 40.1%

Last June, I could not do a single pull-up, even kipping. I did all 120 in this morning's workout, with scabs still on my palms from the 119 I did on Tuesday.

Last June, I was running 5Ks in around 33 minutes. Last month, I finished a 5K race in 25:29, coming in 29th out of 102 runners.

Last September, I could not even hold myself on a pair of rings. I now do ring dips regularly. I did my first muscle-up last month.

Last June, I could not kick up into a wall handstand. I now do handstand push-ups (albeit against a wall).

My deadlift 1RM is nearing twice my body weight (385 right now). My standing press 1RM is over 75% of BW.

I've gone from buying extra-large shirts to mediums. I had my suit tailored last month. When I put my jacket on, the tailor looked at me with raised eyebrows and asked: "How much did you lose?"

I could go on and on about improvements in my performance, physical condition, self-image, diet and general well-being. CrossFit is the real deal, and I'm a walking testimonial. Special thanks to CrossFit Cleveland and Bill, Staci, Paul and Nancy for their dedication to the cause.

Most of what I can offer are fully-dressed photos, so you'll have to judge from those.

Re: One Year

You left out being able to do 100 sommersaults in a WOD without puking!

You've made fantastic achievements this past year, it has been an honor to watch them.
