Opinions for a modified Linda

Curious for different opinions. If you were to do a modified Linda using a standing shoulder press instead of a bench press, what fraction of BW would you use?

Re: Opinions for a modified Linda

Would you do a strict press or a push press? I just did Linda this week with push press in place of the bench press.

Maybe half bodyweight for the press? Dunno, depends on how strong you are. Pick a weight that would make you work to get the first 10 unbroken, then you'll probably have to end up breaking sets here and there after that.

I would sub strict press rather than push press, because push press is a hip/knee extension dominant movement and not really a pure upper body strength movement like the bench press is.

Re: Opinions for a modified Linda

A quick poll of available athletes shows that the average press max is roughly 2/3 of bench max. I fit into that group, as well, so I would go with 2/3 bodyweight for the sub in "Linda".

Re: Opinions for a modified Linda

I intended on doing them as a strict press. The 2/3 ratio is about spot on for me, too. I guess that would only make sense then. thanks....

The Rippetoe abd kilgore chart is always good for things like this: http://macgyver.daug.net/sports/stre...ndards_metric/
