Re: CrossFit for MMA

For that last question you should ask BJ Penn.

It would be really hard to recover from 2 crossfit workouts a day. If you haven't done crossfit yet you should definently start with one workout a day.

Re: CrossFit for MMA

Ask Jason McDonald, if he thinks crossfit is good for MMA.

Crossfit is the perfect addition to MMA training. What I mean by that is that if you follow the wod or some variation of the WOD and do your normal training you will be a beast at practice and in your fights. Crossfit is training method made to make you well rounded in all aspects of training; if you are well rounded and then add a specialized training on top of that you will be good to go.

Also learn to use the search function, tons of info on this.

How long have you been doing MMA.

I do not know many fighters that are still doing "body building workouts" if you are using that term to descrobe some kind of split.

Also, why would you believe the WOD would not be good for mma?

Landon,

Welcome! Just so know, doubling posting is frowned upon. Also, please be sure to use the search function or look at the thread at the bottom of the page.

Thanks,

What kind of specialized training??? I've been doing crossfit for awhile and i've been doing mma for over a year and i've done martial arts for 5-6 years. The only reason i thought the wod isnt good is because its random, but what i've been doing is crossfit workouts that carry over in mma. I thought about doing crossfit for cardio and bodybuilding for strength. even though some of the Wods are short how can they carry over in mma??

I don't know what MMA fighters you are watching, but most do closer to a CF workout than a bodybuilding workout. CF is a good MMA program, because it will work many different components of fitness, and many components are needed for MMA.

Re: CrossFit for MMA

Crosspit is a good mix of workouts for MMA....check WWW.BrandXmartialarts.com (w/f/s) in the forum. Also, what i mean by specilized training is your MMA training. That is training for a specific sport ( fighting) CrossFit is not specilized, it is designed to make you well rounded enough that you can do everyday tasks and be in great shape once you start a sport.
