GHD Back Extension/Sit Up

What is the steps for doing these and where do the buttocks/hips supposed to be at for each one?

For a true back extension, you want to prevent the hips from moving, so set the pad at the highest edge of your hip so you can't bend at the hip and only bend from the lumbar spine. A lot of peopel do a hip extesnion/back extension instead and this allows the hip joint to flex as well (have the pad lower on your leg). Both are good exercises but do different things.

I'm not the best on GHD situps, but for me I have to find the balance of getting a good range of motion and not overstraining my back. If the pad is far out, more toward my head, I get better support, but ROM is cut down. If the pad is closer in more towards my leg, I can get a better ROM, but sometimes these bug my back. I find you have to have some of your butt in front of the pad.

If only there were a resource where we can see all of the exercises demoed, or somewhere that discusses technique in written form...
