Re: heart!

Can be soft and tender when marinated. Tastes good just like any other part of steak. Pretty cheap per pound but hard to find. Winco has it and maybe some ethnic markets ( cow heart and cow brain are big amongst the peruvians ).

Re: heart!

I don't know why we were so lucky, but my dad and I used to get at least a deer each the first morning of the first day of deer season for three or four years running. Our tradition was to eat the heart and lungs, or heart and liver, of the deer we'd killed (kinda depended on where we'd shot it). The lungs I can do without, but man alive do I love me some venison heart and liver...

Re: heart!

ooo lungs, that sounds interesting

I do love liver, tried that for the first time last week and it was delicious. My family basically sticks to the meat basics of...ground beef

so being here I get to try all sorts of new things and fell in love with pork of any kind, fish, organs...I just wish I could find grassfed stuff somewhere

Re: heart!

Lung is just air--it doesn't taste like much, and you just cook it enough to where it's shrunk and cooked all the way through. You can cook it until it's just a scrap of flesh; there's not much actual meat there.

Have you checked out the Eat Wild website? I haven't checked out any of the places on here myself but will when I get home.
