So for those of you who are intermittent fasting, when do you take your supplements?

I've been thinking the most logical approach would be to double up on the supplements and take them on the eating day rather than taking them on an empty stomach on the fasting day.

What do you guys think?

I do ~15 hr overnight fasts. Cod liver oil right before sleep and fish oil with first meal the following morning ~11am, 1 hour after working out. No need to double up with this kind of fasting. I do 15 hr fasts for 2 days then take one day off, then repeat. Energy level at time of workout has been great, especially after 1/2 cup of coffee :080402gudl_prv:

It depends on the type of supplement you're talking about. If it's a stimulating/energy enhancing supplement than your obviously going to want to take it during the fast to mitigate the effects of the fast. If we're talking about things like fish oil, vitamins, and minerals than you're going to want to definitely take those with your meals to increase the uptake. I think a good general rule would be to:

1) Take all of your basics with meals: Oils, vitamins, minerals, probiotics, etc.

2) Take all stimulants while fasting.

3) Herbs are kind of a gray area because some are stimulants, some depressants, and some are neutral. For this one just use common sense. If it's a stimulant take it while fasting. If it's a depressant take it before bed, and so on.

Hey Greg, so would you agree with the doubling up on non-fasting days idea?

I don't take any stimulants/depressants.
