Quest for 300lbs Overhead

I've been inspired by this vid (http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFit_300.wmv wfs) to pursue a 300lb+ [clean and] jerk. I want to see which other Crossfitters can achieve this goal besides Kelly and Josh Everett (who in another video c&j 340). Currently I can push press 215lbsx2, which gives me a great base for this. Best part about the goal is it's going to require me to put double bodyweight overhead to achieve it too; I weigh 152lbs.

Who's with me in starting a "club" on this board for those who can put 300lbs+ overhead?

Re: Quest for 300lbs Overhead

Sounds like a plan... I'm in for a 300 lb overhead jerk/press/push press, whatever it takes to get it up.

I've honestly not tried it.

I'm on my 85% loading week this week and I did 265 for 2 in the push press (I had hoped to get 4) and did 275 for 4 in the snatch grip behind the neck push press.

I think it would push me. But I'm up to the challenge.

All the best,
Arden

Ha!!!!! That's dreaming right there. I did some quarter front squats from the rack position with that weight and couldn't imagine trying to press that. I would like to power clean close to that some day.

I feel the need the need for speed.

I love this oly lifting stuff.

All the best,
Arden

Re: Quest for 300lbs Overhead

Yeah, I gotta work on my confidence in my jerks because right now push presses feel much more comfortable than jerks which is not good. I plan on split, power, and squat jerking over 300lbs.

Re: Quest for 300lbs Overhead

My previous best Clean & Jerk was 330# at I think around 210# bodyweight. This was about 5 years ago. I'd be lucky to get 225# right now, so count me in, I definitely want to get back there, hope to do it in 2008.

I'm in. Won't be able to train for it much until I get to Virginia in late December, though.
