Post-WOD benefits

Can anyone link me to any solid studies? Also, has anyone tried to keep variables down and played with post wod vs. not eating for more than an hour after? I like to think I'm pretty in tune with my body and if there is one thing it tells me, it's that it doesn't want so much as 6oz of choc milk for at least an hour after exercise. I recently began SS so I've been trying to eat after again and its just so difficult for me. Seeing as that I'm pretty new to barbell work, I'm making gains no matter what I do, so I'm having trouble gauging how much of an effect missing that post-wod window is having, if any. Once an hour or so passes I get voracious and slam some protein down with a meal. Perhaps should I have a shake immediately before? Any experiences/ideas/thoughts?

Re: Post-WOD benefits

Liz Wolfe has some interesting thoughts on post workout nutrition. Personally, I wait at least 15 minutes after a workout when my body calms down to a normal state before chugging down some coconut water or a small boxes of raisins. About an hour later, I'll get a 4 block balanced meal. Been doing this for years now and it seems to work pretty well.

HERE is the post (w/f safe).
