Snatch fail 3 videos :(

All WFS:

Some of you may know, I started learning the Olympic lifts maybe a month ago. I've already posted about 2-3 threads with form checks. I apologize for my constant posting I just really want to make progress. In case anybody was wondering, I go to school in Philadelphia and when I start back up in August I plan on joining crossfit center city which has a separate Olympic Lifting club. Soon enough I will be working with a coach. For now, here are some more videos :P

My snatch is just so bad compared to my C+J

I did PR the clean and jerk today so check that video out:

With the Jerk I just cant seem to wrap my head around the dip and drive concept. I dip and I just cant focus on exploding the bar upwards while dropping under it at the same time. Not sure why. Also, once I jerked the bar right into my chin, and ever since then I have subconsciously jerked the bar infront of me instead of back.

Fix that dip right way. Get back and stay on your heels.

On the snatches, get more aggressive getting under the bar and STAY TIGHT!! You just didn't look like you stayed with it and you looked lazy getting under the bar. Turn the bar over aggressively and actively, punch yourself down and push up on the bar. Don't just pull and hope the bar gets to the right place, stay with it!!

On the jerk, lots of practice with no weight. And, I agree with Andrew, shorten the dip. Think about changing directions on the jerk, not so much about how deep to dip, how much to drive, etc. Think about breaking at the knees and changing directions FAST and extending all the way up onto the toes!!

Two things on the snatches:

You need to bring the bar back to you and be more patient. The bar is about mid thigh and you have your weight shifted forefoot or you are already on your toes. This shouldn't happen until the you have finished the second pull and are going under the bar.

With that being said, you still had a chance at fails 2 and 3. You need to stabilize your bottom position of the squat. The big part is your right knee collapses in (could be your left also, but can't tell from this angle), causing hips to shoot back and bar pitching forward. Miss 3 you just can't be surprised that you put the bar in the right position and forget to lock it in. It happens, though.
