Book(s) for Paleo or Zone diets

I'm new to CrossFit. I have been told by my trainer and have read that I'll perform better at the box if I eat better. I've been eating better and I've lost a few pounds, but know I can do better. What books are the ones most people use for these diets?

The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf. Very informational and entertaining as well. It changed my life.

The only Paleo diet book I'd recommend is The Paleolithic Prescription by S. Boyd Eaton, which was also published under the title The Stone Age Health Programme: Diet and Exercise as Nature Intended. These are long out of print though but you may still be able to get a secondhand copy via Amazon. The rest of them, including Robb Wolfs Paleo Solution, are little more than variations on the low-carb fad diets that have been around for years and are therefore best avoided. A far better investment would be good basic sports nutrition book such as The Complete Guide to Sports Nutrition by Anita Bean, or Nancy Clark's Sports Nutrition Guidebook.

Re: Book(s) for Paleo or Zone diets

I actually like the Whole 30 book, It starts with food as well.

http://www.amazon.com/It-Starts-Food...words=whole+30 (WFS)

Paleo is a carb agnostic diet. It can be ketogenic or high carb,it depends on your tolerance and activity levels.

The reason Wolf's book is "low carb" is because it's for the general public audience who doesn't need 300+ grams of carbs a day sitting at a desk for 9+ hours a day.

Have you actually read Robb's book or blog posts? He talks quite a bit about adjusting carb intake to match your individual needs.

We're recommending the book "It Starts With Food" for our athletes. It is excellent. I've read all the major books and feel that ISWF is probably the best one right now.
