mainsite vs affiliate programming

How come the mainsite doesnt throw in any strength/skill work before the wod? All the affiliates I have seen all have strenght/skill wod before the metcon wod. Just wondering?

thanks guys

Re: mainsite vs affiliate programming

Because mainsite wants to keep things as simple as possible, and prefers to have separate strength days and separate metcon days.

What are your goals?

But if you want to get stronger, sure, that's one way to do it.

Re: mainsite vs affiliate programming

I'd definitely through in some strength work. At the vary least doing a basic compound movement before WODS 2-3 times a week. Beyond that you can make it as simple or as hard as you want it to be.

I think CF alone is good for strength endurance, bodyweight strength and building some explosiveness/speed strength but just OK in building maximal strength. I feel that a lot of the strength workouts that come up, are good, but don't happen often enough or for me, choose a movement where I'm still limited by skill than strength (oly lifts and there variations).

One reason is because the mainsite programming assumes you will do it Rx. If you need to scale, it is likely because you are not strong enough to do the wod as Rx - rather than not having enough skill to do the wod. Most affiliates, the ones who've been around a while, know that the thing people need most help with is strength. Thus, they program a bit more strength work for their clients. I know that is the case at our box and a lot of boxes I've visited.

Boxes charge a lot of money and if you're going in and out doing 3x5 squats, they feel like the need to offer more to the client.

Re: mainsite vs affiliate programming

thanks for the replies. I am going to throw some strength in my wods now. It is the only thing holding me back from being rx'd.

thanks guys

Re: mainsite vs affiliate programming

Or just do something like CFFB or CFSB or the 70s Big program for awhile to help get your strength up while still doing some conditioning. That way you're not having to make random guesses about what strength work to do when, and worrying about whether it will mess up your next day's workout or your recovery or whatnot. And you'll keep things on a steady, standardized progression rather than just haphazardly throwing stuff in.
