Re: What doesn't kill Natasha

Thank you all

My back feels this dead-lift now. It was really hard for me yesterday. I know my form wasn't that great, and now I'm paying for it. 140# is my real 1RM for now. I got it on the first attempt and stopped right there. Even to think about trying to get heavier weight was scary and unreal.

Today is the rest day. Deserved!

SS from the beginning, day 1

I'm back after 3 days of rest. It was nice

Tonight I did my first 'real' Starting Strength workout - with 3 work sets of 5 for everything.

Back squat:

45x5x3
65x5

work sets: 100x5x3

Press:

45x5

work sets: 50x5x3

Hang power clean:

45x3

work sets: 60x5x3

rowing, or 15 minutes of hell

We went to Muscat today, and I couldn't resist and join my husband for a workout in a gym. He was doing CFT - 999# - I'm so proud of him! And I decided to do some 'small metcon workout' with 'some rowing'... This was hell

I did 8 rowing sprints of 200 meters with 1 minute rest in between rows.
Splits were:

0:55
0:49
0:52
0:53
0:53
0:55
0:56
0:58

I was dead. Several times, on the last four sets I had to slow down, almost stopped - I just couldn't keep myself going! I was in pain. My thighs, my feet, my butt, my lungs, my head. (And my ego). After I finished I couldn't walk and couldn't breath. All I wanted is to crawl somewhere to the corner, curl and cry.

If you will ask me what was the hardest workout I've ever done, now I have honest response. Still can't believe that I choose it myself!

It gives some strange but full satisfaction, yeah? Like you know that you really worked and don't have anything left in you.
Not this annoying "i could have done better!", but "I have done what I could; those who can will do better".

My whole body is so pleasantly sore today SS tonight.

Yep, if you really want to flog yourself an erg is the way to do it! A good LSD is a 5000m row. Nice and tired after that!

Re: What doesn't kill Natasha

So we are both now "Intermediate" in our Women's CFT Class Rankings. To get to "Advanced" you need a 426, correct? I need a 452. I think that 10 months is a good goal. I haven't gotten my SS books yet but I expect them any time now!

Another challenge?

I did 3... ok, ok, 2 and 3/4 consecutive kipping pull-ups today!

handstand

I skipped my SS workout today, body still remembers the rowing. I'm sore everywhere!

***

The workout I did was 'sunny side up' from http://www.vcrossfit.com/200805/the-...and-from-hell/ (WFS):
  • Hold a handstand against the wall for 300 seconds.
  • Every time you ‘come down’, do 50 sit-ups before you kick back up into the handstand.

I scaled it to 3 minutes handstand hold, and even this version took me about 18 minutes to complete! I had to do 6 sets of 50 sit-ups - 300 total. Wow.
After my 5th set of sit-ups I had only 12 seconds left for a handstand, and I fell down! I had to do the whole 50 sit-ups set before I could finish my 3 (!!!) seconds handstand hold. This was brutal. But fun
