Little 'pop' doing lunges

Hi,

during last thursday's WOD, when doing a lunge I felt a little 'pop' and a bit of release in the hip flexor area. This same thing happened a couple of weeks ago when doing Samson stretch. Localized sharp pain follows, although not that intense. A bit sore in days that follow.

I can't figure out what the injury is. I only feel pain when I do a lunge or press on the area. I don't feel pain when during movement against resistance - hip flexion, knee flexion, adductors, abductors....

Does anybody have any clue what is happening? Maybe I had 'frozen hip' or something? It feels a bit liberating when the pop happens.

thanks for any insights

Re: Little 'pop' doing lunges

Could be adhesions or scar tissue breaking up.

Do some deep massage, and just wait it out to see if it goes away IMO.

If it gets better then it was probably was a good thing. You have any hip trauma in the past?

Re: Little 'pop' doing lunges

Thanks for the reply Steven.

I used to have problems in that area when I was long-distance running...not big problems but nagging stiffness/soreness afterward. I'm very tight in the hips.

Adhesions or scar tissue breaking up sounds reasonable. It doesn't seem like a muscle strain because I can't reproduce the pain when using any muscles. Very odd!

Re: Little 'pop' doing lunges

If it persists though, could be something else. We'll see, eh?
