any decent vegetarian CrossFitters?

A bit of background:

I have been a vegetarian for nearly 16 years now. I eat dairy and eggs, but no seafood, ever. Since starting Crossfit, I've become much more educated on nutrition. I've started taking fish oil (my first compromise in 15 years), given up most soy unless it is my only option, and greatly reduced my carbohydrate intake through the elimination of many grain and starchy products. I'm never going to give up vegetarianism. My wife would go insane.

I am a level 1 trainer at Carolina Crossfit in Columbia, SC. I began Crossfit three years ago after about ten years of rock and alpine climbing. I run our "On Ramp" program, which is a one month introduction to Crossfit fundamentals. Part of On Ramp is a primer on nutrition. During my lectures, I discuss paleo and Zone. I don't bring up my personal choices unless I'm asked in private. I say this because I feel it's necessary to let you guys know I'm not preachy or believe my way is better or anything. It's just who I am. I promote paleo, or at least a whole foods diet, to our clients.

Anyway, after all that, my question is, are there any vegetarians out there with decent numbers? This sounds bold, but I seem to be an anomaly. I saw the main site video with the vegetarian, and it made me want to post this.

My numbers are not world class by any means, but I'm interested to find folks who compare. I'm curious to know how I stack up against others with our "limitations." If you are someone who compares, please tell me a bit about your diet.

A few stats:

m/30/5'10"/179lbs

Pullups: 56
Deadlift: 480
Clean: 280
Power snatch: 180 (yes, my full squat snatch is significantly lower)
Front Squat: 305
Mile: 5:49
500m row: 1:26
1000m row: 3:09

Fran: 2:45
Cindy: 26
Angie: 13:54
Mary: 11
Grace: 2:26 (though I've only tried once, and it was WOD 12 at 7am after 11 other WODS every hour on the hour all night long)

I'm not looking for explanations for why Veg CFers are hard to come by. I know. I'm looking for folks who are actually doing well regardless.

Re: any decent vegetarian CrossFitters?

Hi Brian,

I know this is a 2 year old thread, but hopefully you get a notification email or something. I hope you're still smashing crossfit as a vego! I have just started focusing my (ovo-lacto) vegetarian diet to benefit my crossfit, and I don't want to do it wrong. You seem to have nailed the balance for crossfit performance.

I guess I'm looking for advice or a meal plan or something, as Ed Bauer has only posted one meal plan (that I can find), and is full vegan, while I would prefer to use eggs and some dairy to acheive my results. If you can help me in any way I'd be really grateful.

I am surprised nobody answered your post. Too many Paleo ideologues out there I guess!

Arnold
