Re: run 15k

Started CF about 10 days ago, this looks very, very frightening.

Two cycles ago I subbed the rowing for a running WOD, and in the last cycle we finished with Michael I think. This cycle will have this long run at the end (which I will obviously scale BIG TIME!), so when I do Helen tomorrow, I'm thinking I should sub the 400m run.... also because if I go outside to run I don't have a place to do pullups.. so, what is a good sub for a 400m run? I've seen people rowing, but I don't have a rower, so, could I do Sumo DL High-Pull instead? 50 reps with empty oly bar, maybe? Or will this tax my pulling muscles and therefore my pullups on this workout? .. I've been trying to figure out all sorts of way to sub the 400m run... box jumps? tuck jumps? (I'd say rope jumps but I lost my rope and need to buy a new one).

One time I actually "pretended" I was running, just kicking my heels into my butt like if I were running, but in the same place, and it was tiring as hell for just two minutes - that's how out of shape I am. I was trying to do it quickly though, not at a slow pace.

Just got back. Did it in 83:04. Not bad for my first 15k.

Re: run 15k

You know what, we're planning on scaling to 5k... but this thread has encouraged me to at least do 10. I've not run 10k in about 10 years or more. I don't know if wifey will be able to run the whole way, but I think I'm gonna try it. It's supposed to be hot today, I might have to wait until 7 PM or so.... Wish us luck.

Re: run 15k

Nice Vanessa. I'm terrified. Longest I've ever run was 10k 10 years ago. I plan to start running but switch to rowing if my knee flares up starting in...about 5 hours from now.

I'd say that is a really good time. Anything less than 1.5 hours is good in my opinion. Way to go!

Best post on the main page comments:

Coach, here's that decimal point you dropped:
.
It goes just up the top of the page there between the 1 and the 5.

Re: run 15k

Alright gang - Newbie here... just started CrossFIt today, was planning on doing 'Helen' lastnight but i didn't get to it until this morning. I actually did the scaled workout for buttercups... i know i know... i'm a wimp but you gotta start somewhere. Anyway here are my stats...

Helen x3
200 M run
12 X kettlebell at 15#
6 assisted pullups

Time: 12:16

I did the crossfit endurance challenge also...20/10's x8 on the treadmill and i'm hoping to get atleast a 5k in tonight.

Woohoo for kicking my own butt!

Re: run 15k

Well, I am a day behind and I have had to have this thing in my head for quite some time now, and I will hit it up tomorrow. I drove around today to see where to run to get this distance and end up back at the house. I am going to make myself do this one, but I am skipping the CFWU and just stretching and hitting the road!
