Truth. Better to be wronged in traffic than killed in front of your wife/kid.

Re: Thinking of taking up Tae Kwon Do

So yeah just an update. The judo gym let me come for free for a month and then they dropped the hammer of payment. It used to be $60 a month. Now it's a 3-month contract and it's $200, all up front. I don't have that kind of money right now thanks to the holiday season and paying to go to Crossfit. So I guess I'll have to wait until I rebound from Christmas.

I was going to say that most judo clubs are nonprofit and encourage you to keep looking. After reading your account of the incident, I changed my mind.

There are ways they will work with you. But, eventually I would have to come up with money. And right now I don't think I can.

Re: Thinking of taking up Tae Kwon Do

Even the non profit judo clubs probably have some form of fees. Nothing McDojo style, but maybe 35-60/month.

Taking judo at a local college may be cheap, though.

Yeah I started doing it in college as a phys ed credit. lol. I had to have so many elective hours in college.

This place pumps out a lot of big time competitors and is part owner of a local MMA fight organization so it was bound to happen that fees would go up.

Like I said, I just have to get my finances in order and it'll be fine.

Re: Thinking of taking up Tae Kwon Do

I used to take Weightlifting every semester, including summer as you can't beat gym access for 1 to 1.5unitsx$11dollars. Bare in mind, both gyms I worked out at in college had plates, a rack, and a platform besides pulldown machines, dumbbells and leg press racks.

It might be be offered through a local community center which could be budget minded, as well.
