Deadlift 10x2

Tuesday 07 DEC 10

Resting 60 seconds between sets:
Deadlift 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2

225-225-230-230-235-240-245-245 (struggled with second rep)-245(f on second rep)-225

I probably could have pushed through the rep that I failed but I could feel my back rounding so I decided it was safer not to push it. My training partner said he thought my back was rounding a bit in the earlier reps also but we were facing each other so it's hard to tell. I'm going to break out the video camera the next time I DL so that I can see for sure. I've just lived through one injury and don't want to go through all of that again...

Major props to the ladies on the mainpage hitting between 260-300 !

Technique and Filthy Fifty

Wednesday 08 DEC 10

Wednesday is normally a rest/yoga day for me but my training partner and I decided it would be a good day to work on technique with the video camera on DLs (185 lbs), cleans (95 lbs), snatch (65 lbs)and OHS (45 lbs). I haven't had a chance to review the video yet but we're getting together Saturday Morning to look it over/point and laugh.

Thursday 09 DEC 10

Feeling really under the weather so took a longer than normal walk with the dog instead of training hard.

Friday 10 DEC 10

For time:
50 Box jump, 24 inch box (subbed 25 on small black plyo box (height ???))
50 Jumping pull-ups (subbed 25)
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood (subbed 25)
Walking Lunge, 50 steps (subbed 25)
50 Knees to elbows (subbed 25 knees to eye level but still mostly looked like I was having a seizure on the bar)
50 Push press, 45 pounds (subbed 25 @ 45 lbs)
50 Back extensions (subbed 25 BE on GDH)
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball (subbed 25 w/ 20lb ball)
50 Burpees (subbed 25)
50 Double unders (subbed 25)

Box jump 1:09
Jumping pull-ups 0:39
Kettlebell swings 0:56
Walking Lunge 0:50
Knees to elbows 0:50
Push press 1:58
Back extensions 0:23
Wall ball shots 1:32
Burpees 2:31
Double unders 5:01

Total 15:01

I had a parade this morning so I had to be at work early in my fancy uniform so we didn't have time to do the full 50 reps, but I think we got a pretty good workout in anyway. The only other time I did the Filthy Fifty I did all 50 reps but used lighter weights for the Wallballs and scaled the K2E to leg raises and had a time of 42:13. I definitely think I could beat that time based on my performance today; especially if I got a better rope for the DU. The only ones I could find at the gym were either the really slow, clunky leather ones or really short ropes. I'm not great at DU at the best of times and really don't need crappy ropes to complicate matters...

Max reps Bench Press & Pullups and Deadlift/GHD Metcon

Monday 13 DEC 10

"Lynne"

Five rounds for max reps of:
Body weight bench press (subbed 95lbs)
Pull-ups

I'm not even close to a bodyweight bench press so I scaled down. If there had been an assisstance band available to me I probably would have used it for the pullups but as there wasn't I just did deadhangs. Reps were as follows:

Round 1: 4 BP/2 PU
Round 2: 4 BP/2 PU
Round 3: 3 BP/1 PU
Round 4: 2 BP/1 PU
Round 5: 3 BP/1 PU

Tuesday 14 DEC 10

Three rounds of:
10 Deadlifts (used 185 lbs)
30 GHD situps (scaled 15 GHD situps)

Round 1: 1:23
Round 2: 1:32
Round 3: 1:18

Total 4:14

All sets of DL were unbroken and I really tried to focus on the position of my back throughout the movement. I was surprised to see that the last round was the shortest because it definitely didn't feel that way when I was going through the workout...
