Hang from rings (preferred) or a bar, pull your legs up, let your body invert, and let your legs stretch toward the ground behind you.

Go gently when you begin, it puts quite a bit of strain on your shoulders. If you go too far and can't get back up, just let go of the rings and land on your feet. Go slowly and in control. Once you get inverted, pike at the hips and point your toes toward the ground behind you and every so slowly reach for the ground with your toes. Recover by pulling the other way to return to the starting position. If your shoulders are stiff try starting with your knees bent and then extending your legs a bit at a time to increase the range of motion before you commit to a full on reach with extended legs.
