I have a question about how many fat grams are in a zone block. "Enter the Zone" and DrSears.com list 1.5 grams/block. "A Week in the Zone" lists 3 grams/block. I'm assuming that 3 grams is right. Based on a 12 block/1200 calorie diet, a 30% fat intake for the day is about 40 grams -- 3 grams/block x 12 blocks = 36 grams fat. At 1.5 grams/block your total fat intake for a 12 block day would be only 18 grams not even close to 30% fat.

Does the 1.5 gram fat/block perscription assume some supplementation? And ... when really lean athletes eat 2-5x more fat is this based on the 1.5 grams or 3grams?

3 grams is correct.

1.5 grams (half) comes from the low fat protein source.

So if you were using a protein powder with no fat, then you would want to add 3 grams of fat.

Eric is absolutely correct. Most of the time your eating a protein source with fat (chicken, beef, pork, etc.) so your fat block would be 1.5 g / block. Fat free cottage cheese, protein powder, etc, your fat blocks would be 3g/block.
