I follow the Weston A Price Foundation(WFS)'s guidelines on eating because their work is very compelling and makes perfect sense to me. Also, I feel and perform best (by far..mentally and physically) when eating this way. I truly feel that we NEED to eat the way we have evolved as our ancestors have, and the difference it makes for me is huge.

Lots of fat (especially from animal sources), vegetables, but little grain and sugar and occasional fruit.

+1 to Joe's comment. I think it would be pretty hard to eat paleo and get 40% from carbs. My macro ratios are right around 20% Carb, 30% Protein, and 50% fat. And I lost more weight after switching from zone to paleo. Not to mention no more WAMing.

While I don't follow Zone proportions, a lot of what Barry Sears says is beneficial to know. I follow a modified zone where I cut the carbs in half, consume half my daily carbs PWO, and make up the calories for the missing carbs with fat.

That being said, you'll get the biggest bang for the buck by following paleo over zone if you HAD to make the choice. Obviously one is food quality and the other is food quantity, so they can be used concurrently.
