Feet Shoulder Width Apart?

This is something I have ALWAYS wondered about..

Insides of feet or outside? Or Middle?

In HS it was like a linebacker stance. Which would be inside of feet. But ive seen pictures and it is much more narrow.

So talking about below parallel squats, what exactly do you consider shoulder width.

Whatever is comfortable I would imagine. Try not thinking about it so hard and just do it.

Re: Feet Shoulder Width Apart?

My stance is about as wide as it would be if I was going to do a vertical jump. Maybe slightly wider. This is about right for a high bar "olympic" style squat or whatever you want to call it. Most people who do low bar squats will prefer a wider to much wider stance outside of shoulder width.

I would say whatever is most comfortable, allows you to get to / past parallel, maintain core stability and doesn't cause injury works. I get my feet slightly wider than parallel and use a mid back squat - not high, not low

Re: Feet Shoulder Width Apart?

At the Crossfit PL Course they discussed how wide stance squats will carry over to olympic but olympic do not carry over to wide stance. Just food for thought
