is two pieces of bread a day really that bad?

i mean i dont have time at work to be dragging all these veggies and crap around. if its in zone paramaters for my blocks will a sandwhich really be bad. i am extremely active afterwards as i have a physical job. so can it be that bad? would i be better off making two tortilla wraps to get my carbs instead? or is it about the same being grains?
some of this just seems rediculous. i mean tonight i would have to eat two plums and eighteen cups of romain lettuce to get my blocks in

Get some whole grain bread and make your sandwich.

Even better if you go sprouted. I prefer the taste, too. Also look for higher density carbs if you decide to try and nix the bread - leafy greens are awesome, but they're basically water. Throw some "less favorable" carbs in there as well (carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, etc). OTOH, I'm in love with romaine and have been known to eat a head out of hand, but that's just me

thanks guys. i do stay away from starches and grains its just i hate to even stop work for lunch but since i have to now its just easier. i have the miltons whole grain and its only eighteen carbs a slice so two is perfect in my zone.
tomorrow is a can of tuna wrapped in tortilla with avacodo and a piece of fruit. im getting better at this

It's all dependent on your goals, age, and metabolism...but I wouldn't bug on two pieces of bread. Listen to your body, everyone is different. If you think the two slices of bread are messing you up, take them out. But I think you'll be fine.

I've always been a stocky bastard with what I thought slow metabolism, but with this zone/paleo diet and CF, it seems I can cheat many times during the weekend and still be fine. I don't think I've ever had that luxury and now I'm 40 and dating girls in their mid 20's--go CF!!!!

You could do a lot worse... but as always, you could do better as well. Personally if I were going to load up on "bad" carbs like that, I'd probably get the from fruit instead. You can always do a lettuce wrap for a sammich and get your carbs mostly from fruits and some veggies for the remainder. I think that would probably be more ideal, keep you full for longer, etc.

I personally don't do any grains anymore and feel much better for it. Something sprouted like ezekiel bread is a better alernative to your standard whole wheat slice.

Re: is two pieces of bread a day really that bad?

Brett, I am in the same situaiton as you. My mom varies with the amount of fruit and veggies she buys, so I have to eat a sandwhich pretty much everyday. I paleo for all of the other meals and have found that the sandwhich is fine and doesn't impact gains at all. Eating two plums and 18 cups of romaine lettuce is kinda ridiculous when at work, so just stick with the sandwhich. Trust me, at college I was forced to eat alot of sandwhiches because the food is so bad and I still made really good gains and maintained a six pack throughout the process, so grains won't negatively impact you if you limit them to a few times a week.
