gift idea?

I had a friend offer, the night before I went on leave for two weeks (I promise I had made other plans far in advance, but they fell through the day before), to take my cat to his apartment and watch him while I was gone. What's a good gift to get him in return. He's a single 23 year old male in Navy flight school. Not a big drinker...

Re: gift idea?

If you don't know him too well, just ask him what sort of stuff he likes.

I know they say it's the thought that counts (which in this case is very nice of you ) but it really IS the prezzie

Re: gift idea?

I'd suggest a Gift card to Cabela's or some other outdoor place. Cabela's is like a toy store for guys. My husband loves that place...assuming that this guy is into outdoor stuff.

If you could give us hints on what his interests and hobbies are, I may be able to suggest something more in line with his interests.

HAHAHAHAHA awesome! Although by the time we're done, we'll be looking at the Growler.

I loved the Cabela's/BPS idea, but there aren't any nearby. Atlhoguh I guess he could do online...

I originally was thinking of a gift certificate to a restaurant, but was wondering if one of those Visa gift cards (basically a debit card that can be used anywhere) would be a good idea.

Trust me, we don't live near a Cabela's either. We actually had to stop at the Original Cabela's while on a road trip out West this summer - we made a special trip to Sidney, NE so my husband could go there and drool. He finds plenty of crap to buy via their catalog and/or website. That being said, we are both outdoor nuts and he's obsessed with knives. The man must own at least 20 pocket knives and just as many multi-tools.

A VISA or AMEX gift card would also be a good call, but if I got something like that as a gift, I'd do something goofy like use it to buy groceries and that's no fun. Gifts should be something that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself - does that make sense?

Just don't give the tequila and knife together as a gift. Bad things might happen...

+1 on the iTunes gift card. I love getting those as a gift!
