Don't they sell it at the butchers over there?

I'd like to go on record saying I like to eat Bambi but I don't want to have to look into it's eyes before...

some states don't allow venison to be sold through retail - that is how it is here in Alabama.

Oh no! Well that's very unfortunate! Then you just need to fly to Germany and go to a certain top secret restaurant and have some bambi with a roasted chesnut sauce and some cranberries

I think it's the same way here, but you can usually convince a processor to sell you a box that someone didn't pick up.

For the record, I have no problem with looking Bambi in the eyes and putting an arrow through his heart. Lest we forget that Bambi was a buck.

Re: Hunting Season Is Around The Corner

So sad...no canadian hunters responding on here...well maybe Jay scared them off!

Deer opened up here for bow hunters Sept 9 for just about everything on the ground (deer - whitetail and muley, moose, elk, antelope...I think even mtn goat and big horn sheep???) and its been pretty hot up here so nothing yet but hopefully as soon as it cools down they'll be moving!

Rifle in November.

Jerky and steaks all winter long!!!

The USDA will not allow venison to be sold through retail unless it is farm raised and inspected. The stuff is good, but it's pricey and not all that easy to find.

Jay,

While I greatly admire your culinary acumen, you have clearly never met the carp we are conversing about. They are truly demonic and even if I did grill one (which I would probably never eat a fish out of an Iraqi lake) I would never take my eyes off of him.

So no one wants to weigh in on the state of hunting in Vermont?

I've got some video somewhere of these things, I'll put it up if I can find it. And I agree with Chris, wouldn't eat these if you paid me. I shudder to think what Saddam fed these things and what's in the bottom of those lakes.
