Inov 8 question

I have been wearing my Vibram FiveFingers for a while now and wanted to get a "normal" shoe. I have been looking at the Inov 8's because it seems every crossfitter I know swears by them, unfortunately no place near me sells them so I have to get them online. My question is are they true to size? I hate buying items online getting it and finding it does not fit.

Re: Inov 8 question

For me, they were a .5 of a size bigger. I usually wear a 10.5 in Asics and Nikes and I wear a 10 in Inov8s. They are definitely worth it. I do almost every metcon in them.

The 195s, in my opinion, are the way to go, by the way.

Thanks. I wear a 10.5 as well in Nikes, so I'm assuming I should go with 10's? Why the 195's?

Re: Inov 8 question

I bought my 195's online and had no sizing issues. I bought what I normally wear: size 12.

Easily the most comfortable shoe I own.

Re: Inov 8 question

I usually wear an 11 and ordered a 10.5 in the 230's and it's dead on. Seems most people with them go down a half size. Also, I had good luck with ordering through zappos.

Re: Inov 8 question

I'll third the sizing issue. Normally wear a 10.5, got 10's. Fit perfectly, and the 230s are the jam. Great shoes for WODs (excluding rope climbs).

Have the Vibrams Bikilas LS too, and I much prefer the inov-8s for CF.

Re: Inov 8 question

Definately prefer my 195's over the 230's. They fit true to size for me. A VERY good shoe! I had to switch back to my Nike Free runs due to a knee injury that is consistently reaggrivated whenever any distances are run in the 195's (Need something a little less minimalist for a bit). I personally still prefer the 195's over my vibrams and Free's. When my knee heels I will be switching back. I would Definately stick with the 195's.

Re: Inov 8 question

A much less expensive option (half the price) are the New Balance MT101. I love mine. They are super lightweight, have a very low heel, and thin sole. I got the very cool green for $59 shipped:

Re: Inov 8 question

hmmmmm.... I guess I will have to order the half a size lower. And I am curious to whether I will prefer my Vibrams or Inov's. I am still trying to get used to running in the Vibrams, seems that you need to run Pose to save the calves from obliteration.

Re: Inov 8 question

I also purchased the inov8, specifically followed their online sizing chart and when the shoe arrived it was a .5 size too big. So like everyone else says go .5 size smaller.
As for the VFF it took me a good six months to strength my achilles/ankels and calfs before I could wear them comfortably. I also found when I switched from the VFF Spint to the Bikila that helped as the cut of the shoe was more a little more fitted.
