Paleo Diet

Hey guys quick question. This is what I'm understanding of the Paleo diet, that whatever our ancestors ate, eat it. Does it matter how much you eat of it. For example can I eat as much chicken as I want in a single meal or should I portion it out like the zone? And am i allowed snacks in between meal? Any input would be grateful! Thanks!

Re: Paleo Diet

Eat meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds; that's it. The rest is up to you. Eat whatever amouts of protein/carb/fat you want and in as many meals/snacks as you want. Don't need to zone, it's much less stressful.

Generally if you're not eating quality foods now, just switching over to paleo regardless of quantities will make a huge difference in performance/body composition.

If you're actively trying to lose or gain weight, however, yes it does matter how much you eat.

Like Shane said, if you're trying to lose wieght you need to watch how much you eat/calorie intake.

Re: Paleo Diet

About 4 weeks ago I hurt my ankle and new that I wouldn't be able to run for a long while. I've been meaning to start try the Paleo diet and figured now was as good a time as any. I'm 6ft and at the time I weighed 221 pounds, and using the Tape method for body fat% I was at around 19%. Now, 4 weeks later I'm down to 205 and at about 15% using the same method.
Moral of the story- I'm pretty much sold on the Paleo diet. What I'm looking to do now is follow it more strickly (I cheated a few days with cheese), and to bring a little more variety into it. Since I've been eating the same meals pretty much every week.
Throughout the 4 weeks I haven't concerned myself with calories, but I have noticed just by changing the types of foods I've been eating I haven't had the "urge" to over eat. So without thinking about it I have most likely reduced my calorie intake as well.
