Post CF Meal etc...

Hi,

Just wanted to get some more info on what to eat exactly after a CrossFit workout.

Someone mentioned this.

CrossFit workout

Immediately after - Grape Juice or Apple Juice

1hour later - full meal (chicken, veggies)

Is this correct?

Why the grape/apple and not protein shake?

I'm going to start with one question at a time.

Thanks for the help so far.

Re: Post CF Meal etc...

Personally, immediately after a workout I drink apple juice mixed with some olive oil and whey protein. Then within an hour I eat a full meal with zone proportions and paleo foods.

Re: Post CF Meal etc...

Whole chocolate milk as soon as possible post-WOD--4:1 carb/protein ratio and high-GI so it helps replace glycogen stores, and the fat helps with protein synthesis.

Sweet potatoes/yams with protein and fat of your choice--another high-GI carb choice recommended by Robb Wolf and several others.

Then back to normal Zone/Paleo meal as soon as you're hungry.

2 orders of granola w/ whole milk from Green Beans Coffee in Kandahar!

I know.. Refined carbs. But it makes me feel like a million bucks. Sometimes I do this pre-workout as well if it's not a puke-inducing WOD.

Haha, green beans. Not something I expected to see on this thread! I used to love their spiced chai back when I consumed that stuff.

Re: Post CF Meal etc...

Oh yeah, it's good stuff but I only do it after a hard WOD! The Chai one is amazing as well. Hey kinda off topic but on the Green Beans site it claims that the granola cup with milk is only 285 calories?! That seems extremely low considering it's like 2 measured cups of granola plus the whole milk. Any insight?

No man, I have no idea why they put it so low. That is low. Hmmm, you know what is sad is I am in a place that doesn't have a green beans. Sorry

Re: Post CF Meal etc...

For the last 3 months i've been drinking 1 litre of 2% milk (alternate between white and choc. by mood) and it's done wonders for me. Right now i'm experimenting by replacing the 1L milk with cell-tech and nitro-tech mixed with 500ml of 2% milk, to see the difference.

1L 2% White Milk
32g Protien
20g Fat
48g Carbs

1L 2% Choc. Milk
32g Protien
20g Fat
108g Carbs

Cell-tech/Nitro Tech w 500ml 2% white Milk
34g Protien
16g Fat (i throw in some Cashews to up the fat)
100g Carbs (Lab-grade Dextrose)
10g Creatine

I'll try this for 2 months to see if there is any difference in a "Scientifically proven" PWO meal compared to a milk PWO meal.

Re: Post CF Meal etc...

What!?!? You people are able to feel hunger after the WOD?
I'm only able to drink water, is this bad for me?
