I have done Cindy (5 pull ups+10 push up+15 squat) twice and both times I have had to stop because of a cramp in my butt after 10 minutes. This makes no sense- why should an upper-body focused work out cause me to get a cramp in my lower body? What should I do to keep this from happening in the future?

I am not overweight, but I don’t have a lot of upper body strength or shoulder flexibility. I have been working on both via the cfwu, and I am assisting on the pull ups with either gravatron or jumping. The first failure was from jumping, which I sort of can understand, but the second one was 100% gravatron pull ups.

Has anyone else had an experience like this- a cramp in your butt from doing pull ups?

No, I haven't had anything like that.

I know that when I start to learn a new exercise my body seems to be unsure on what to 'fire' and until my neurons learn the new process I get sore in different areas. Then I notice a sudden improvement in my performance and all is back to normal. Takes a few workouts.

I reckon you're unconsciously clenching. :D I use a Gravitron-type machine at the gym and the effort is still enough that I use most of my body to get up there. If you're going from squats to pull-ups, and tensing your butt, then it's quite possible you could get a cramp.

It's worth making sure you have taken in sufficient fluids and minerals (potassium is the main one if you're prone to cramps).
