Weider Bumper plate set

I just bought a weider bumper plate set with a bar and bench press from craigslist. It was only $150 for over 300 lbs of weight. The lady said they were almost brand new, some guy just dumped them on her and she just wants to get rid of them. I know we don't do bench much, so I'll either sell it or keep it for the one day a year we do bench. Anyways, I'm stoked, but wondering what others thought about that brand? It seemed like a good deal because the guy paid something like 600 for the whole set originally.

I'd be very surprised if Weider even makes bumpers. They are probably rubber coated steel.

Yeah, I think they are just coated with rubber. Regardless, I guess if I needed the weights, they are the right price. They are from Sears, so there are pictures on the sears website. WFS. I suppose it'll work until I can afford some real bumper plates. Thanks for the responses.

That's was my thinking too! If they bumpers and you paid $150 you should be pumped

Either way...good deal on a lot of weight. You can always use more plates.

Sounds like a good deal. Real bumpers are so expensive, the weights you just got should server you well until you get bumpers. I am in the same boat, I would lover real bumpers, but for the time I use steel.

As for the bench, I would not be so quick to get rid of it. Lynne and Linda both come up regularly. I also use my bench for "chair" dips and to pass out on post WOD.
