Re: Paleo/ meal frequency

choose more calorically dense foods if your not getting enough, handfuls of nuts, shots of coconut oil, potatoes, yams, nut butters.

Re: Paleo/ meal frequency

Lots of protein from meat and eggs. Don't bother with the super-lean cuts, get stuff with fat marbled in there. Lots of fat in the form of olive oil, coconut milk, coconut oil, and nuts. Dense carbs like squash and sweet potatoes. And if all else fails, something like oatmeal mixed in with your supplemental protein shakes is far from the worst thing you could put in your body. Or there's always whole milk if your body tolerates it ok.

Re: Paleo/ meal frequency

Slot of foods on thatlist are unavailable to me, mainly the meats. But I've found that nut butter helps.

And that list says no more than 6 eggs a week. I eat close to 2-dozen... Is that a problem if I have healthy cholesterol levels etc

Re: Paleo/ meal frequency

Cordain initially wrote the stuff about fewer than 6 eggs per week but has since revised his stance on that. Eggs generally aren't a problem, especially if they're of the organic/cage-free/omega-3 type. Even if they're not, they're unlikely to be a problem.

I eat eggs everyday, 2-3 a day and 14-21 a week. But as said before just eat a lot of meat, and a lot of veggies. I eat eggs and chicken every morning, chicken and spinach salad for lunch and more meat for dinner. Just try and see what works for you. I found eating chicken a lot works great for me.

I'm just wondering about this list....why does it say that sweet potatoes, yams and fatty meats are to be avoided? I thought that these were Paleo?

Depends on who you ask. There is no One True Paleo Diet, only interpretations by various people. Some people believe that the paleo diet should not include starchy roots because paleo man would have no eaten them in large quantities and because they may contain some anti-nutrients. Other people, myself included, think they're ok.

As far as the fatty meats, it depends where the fat comes from. Most fatty meats you obtain in a store today come from animals that have been raised in confinement and fed a diet that they did not evolve to eat, including grain mixes and hormones. The fat produced by these animals is higher in omega-6 fatty acids than a more natural animal, such as one that lives in relative freedom and feeds on grass without any pharmaceutical aids.
So, unless you've ordered your fatty meat from a free range/organic/grassfed producer, it's probably best eaten in limited quantities.
