Kat, Yes I love Cesar and how he handles dogs.
Your right in all you say about fear will only breed fear. I see that. Unfortunately when the situations have happened I've not been in control. Like what happened at pet smart. I was doing everything in my power to make him feel safe. It happened when I was not there.
We do spend a lot of time walking or going to the stream to run. Before I took him we went for a long walk/run in the park.
At the vets both times it has taking me off guard and I've not been the pack leader. I see that now.
This past week when i took him to the vet and he snapped they muzzled him. I had to leave the room it's just so upsetting to see him like that.
Next time I won't leave him I will find a way to overcome my being upset and take control of the situation.
We have a lot of work to do. At home he is sweet and loving I see how he feels so safe.
Also, i do use the dog pack deal. Yet, should do it more.
I wish Cesar would do his show at my house with my dog

Why don't you write to Cesar and ask him to do a show at your home?

Jennifer, you are fabulous for continuing your willingness to work with Louie.

I have Cesar's Book, "Cesar's Way" and in it he makes a point of everyone needing to be pack leader in the household. He states "I go to many households where the dog respects one person, but runs roughshod over the rest of the family. This can be another recipe for disaster" (139). Admittedly through the distance of this forum, it is hard to give a precise analysis, but this seems to be Louie's issue? Even if he sees you as a pack leader, he doesn't see others in the same light. You can certainly set that straight.

I don't want to take up the board quoting Mr. Milan, but I would be glad to further give you some information I have. You are certainly welcome to PM me.:proud:
