Coach must have known I was worried if I was going to be in good 5K shape so he threw 3 run specific WOD's our way. I haven't ran outside of the WOD's for the last several months and I am looking forward to the annual Turkey Trot this week. This is going to be my test of Coach's theory that we are all a 3 day taper away from competing at top level. I am sure I butchered the quote but you get the meaning.

My entire family runs, my mom, aunt, cousins, wife and the kids get in the act with the under 10 75 yard dash.

Based on my precise and exacting calculation of rest days it looks like Thursday will have a WOD. Looking at the last three years 2005 was an Oly lift 1,1... workout, 2004 was a 10K and 2003 was a Powerclean workout. I hope that this years plays well with my 5K.

I was curious if anyone else made it a tradition to run a race on Thanksgiving?

Definitely. Usually go home to see the family in Denver but this year I'm doing it here in DC. Early morning run to get the blood going and then we'll see what the WOD is. Good tradition and get the engine running and ready to kill some turkey and stuffing and catch the broncos game!!

The gym I work at is doing a turkey trot at 5, 10, and 15k distances Thursday and a 5k swim Friday morning. Why not a deadlift or pullup/dip competition or tireflip races? Yeah right, maybe when I open my own gym...

Have a great holiday gang

Rock On Jeremy! That looks like a great workout. The hardest part to me is running downhill. A 2K downhill would be a quad burner.

If I was out west on Turkey Day I would join in the run.

The last (and first) time I takled Briones hill, I did it with 70lbs strapped to my back. . .

I made it in twenty somth'n minutes. . . but it freak'n hurt. This time I am going to do it without weight added.
