Airdyne Bicycle Computer *Upgrade*

I have a few of the older Airdynes and one or two of their screens are broke and then some seem to compute different calorie/distances when riding at same pace. I know of a gym close to me that outfitted all of their airdynes with bicycle computers(the ones that you would attach to a road bike) and was wondering if anyone has done so or has advice on a specific model.
I want a wired model so no interference occurs and it must display calories. Looking at the Cateye Velo 9 currently. Any advice would be helpful!
