The thing with this statement is WHO CARES...every event favours a certain body type, why should this one be any different?

Bridges doesn't complain about rowing
running, wallballs, rowing all favour taller athletes.

Gymnastics favours smaller/lighter athletes...

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

The Castro always avoids direct comparisons with other events:

They won't have a 100/200/400... sprint, but they will have a zig zag sprint.

They won't have a powerlifting total but they will have a deadlift ladder.

They won't have simple Olympic lifts in a meet format, they will make you do it from the hang or do it after doing 30 double unders...

so the winners can't be compared unfavorably with athletes who actually specialize in those areas.

Uhh... What? Was that directed at a different post?

And I definitely foresee athletes sandbagging their maxes if a percentage would be used later, especially the top and bottom 10%. Why go extra heavy when you know you you are gonna make top 10 either way? Or on the other side, if you know you are gonna be lucky to crack top 30 just dog the lift and get a few spots and then win all the percentage based events.

With that being said, it would be great to see a CFT or some form of lifting total completed on its own day for an event.

Sam Briggs. Bwahhahhahah.

More like Anna Olafsson or Samantha Wright. Hell, even Ager-bomb. Or of course, Camille.

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

Defending Africa regionals champ Rika Diedericks has withdrawn from competition, anyone know why?

Specialists outperform CrossFitters. I don't think that's any secret or something that is trying to be hidden. I don't think there is any consideration for this when programming is made. CrossFit competition programming takes from multiple sports and presents it in a way that is competitive and fun to watch.

The CrossFitters who excel at Olympic lifts have numbers comparable to the bottom of the specialist lifters.

Already thought that through also. It would have to be a surprise event.

On Edit after reading through, someone else already said it to.

Pretty standard operating procedure actually by now. Should be use to it, and accept it. Trust me, I understand and agree, but that's out of our hands and has become the norm.

Cause pull ups, muscle ups, running (both long and sprints), non-kipping handstand push ups, legless rope climbs, etc don't favor smaller folks?

Austin only snatched 225# and tied for 26 in the event. I predict he is going to be one of the big names to not make it back to the Games.
