Airdyne Question
Hey everyone. I just picked up a "Schwinn Airdyne Comp" the other day. Second day I had it, it broke. The chainring (larger chain sprocket) is spinning on the crankset. No big deal - parts are available but I think I'm just going to weld it back together.
Anyway, after talking to Schwinn, it appears that I have a model that was never made. Mine has a big wheel, but also has a rectangular seat post. Basically the front half looks like a AD3 / AD4 but the back half looks like an Evo model. Definitely doesn't have the small wheel. Just curious if anyone had a similar model. BTW, I picked it up for $20, so I don't mind putting an hour of labor into getting it back up to speed. Score! |

Re: Airdyne Question
I have the exact same bike. I wish I got it for $20. That is a sweet deal.

Re: Airdyne Question
So is this some mystery model that we have? I can't find anything on it online.

Re: Airdyne Question
I think just the frame is different. Otherwise it is pretty much the same as an AD4....I think. Haven't replaced any parts on it yet.

Re: Airdyne Question
So I finally did crack this nugget. What I have is called an Airdyne Pro/Comp with the big fan and is at times refereed to as an Airdyne 5.
Many of the parts are interchangeable with older AD3/4 models however the biggest differences are the frame and the fact that it is belt driven from the crank to the wheel. The reason I know of the differences are that I just helped score an older AD4 for a buddy of mine and started looking to see what was different. There are three variants of this design One called a Pro which is Grey, another called a Pro LE, which is champagne in colour and the Comp model I have which is blue. There you go. |

Re: Airdyne Question
I have a golden oldie airdyne. I picked it up last weekend from an artist who had it in his studio which was an old shipping container. The thing is at least 30 years old, rock solid, and works like a charm. It is gold in color.

Only problem is, it's missing the display console and I can't find them for sale anywhere. Do you know if this bike would be compatible with the AD3/AD4 console? |

Re: Airdyne Question
The ad3 or ad4 monitor would work as it should come with a set of wires and the dongle to track revolutions of the fan.

Re: Airdyne Question
The bike still has its wire harness and sensor, I'm just hoping I can find a display for cheaper than the $140-180 that I see them selling for online.
